3 Easy Steps to Help Kids Eat Right!
Get Kids Involved: grocery shop ahead of time to buy foods you'll need for meals and snacks for the week and get kids involved in choosing foods that will appear in breakfast, lunch and dinner. Get kids involved in cutting, mixing and prepping meals. They'll learn more about food and may even be open to trying new foods!
Eat Right: sit down and eat as a family as much as possible throughout the week - this can help strengthen family bonds and boost children's self confidence. Aim for a variety of colors and flavors on your plate and incoporate fresh vegetables/fruits, whole grains and lean proteins at every meal.
Get moving: what better way to get the family to spend time together than to get moving! Ride bikes, swim, play at the park or go for a walk - really any type of activity that you enjoy doing is great! Exercise will help strengthen muscle and bones, promote a healthy body weight, support learning, develop social skills and build self-esteem. Kids ideally need 60 minutes of play per day.
