Who doesn't love dessert! Especially when we are entering the best season for fruit. Incorporating a fruit as the main focus of your treat will insure that the sugar you are getting is naturally occurring rather than added. Check out our new favorite recipe for Seasonal Berry Crisp, we have made this recipe gluten-free and paleo as well. We will be serving it this Friday at our monthly Family Dinner!
Seasonal Berry Crisp:
4 cups fresh or frozen berries- we love strawberries right now!
1 cup almond or coconut flour
¼ cup coconut oil (at room temperature)
¼ cup honey or maple syrup
2 tsp. Cinnamon
Add a sprinkling (1/4 cup) of your favorite nuts chopped up for some crunch
Serve a la mode (as shown in the picture) for those of you not following a Paleo, gluten-free diet!
Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. Spray your baking pan (8x8) with a nonstick spray or coat with a thin layer of coconut oil and then place berries at bottom of pan. Mix all other ingredients in a small bowl and spread over the top of the fruit. Bake for 30 minutes and enjoy!
